The questions cannot really be answered because there are no rules. There is one specialised unit in the country. handling all kinds of paediatric surgery except orthopaedic. cardiac. plastic and neurosurgery. Neonatal surgery from the eastern half of the country go there. The rest is managed in the surgical departments of the University Hospitals in Arhus and Odense. The senior staff in Copenhagen are all certified in general surgery and have from 4-10 years service within the unit before appointment.
